Free EBook Publishing Help

Our eBook publishing goals include that we keep our costs down until our eBook income starts to flow. That doesn’t stop us using the best eBook publishing resources and tools available though, because many of them are free!
I’ve listed my favorites below. Most of them are FREE.

Disclosure: I am an affiliate for some of the paid eBook publishing tools below. Any products whose affiliate programs I represent have been purchased by myself and not received free for a positive review or inclusion in this list. They are the ones I personally use because they are the best for the job. Thank you for purchasing through my link if you decide to buy any item. It enables me to keep researching and testing more free eBook publishing tools for you.

Firefox web browser FREE

This is the best web browser if you are doing website development or managing your own website to sell your eBook. And there are hundreds of helpful FREE extensions and add-on pieces of functionality that work like apps and plugins. My favorites I use all the time are:

  • Firebug – for inspecting code, editing, isolating issues, web security testing, page performance testing, and the list goes on. A must-have.
  • Web Developer Toolbar – adds various web developer tools to the browser. Great for eBook self-publishers and amateur developers like myself!
  • Fireform – a form filler that saves a lot of time
  • SeoQuake SEO – to help with search engine optimization (SEO)
  • MeasureIt – Draws a ruler across any webpage to check the width, height, or alignment of page elements in pixels
  • Rainbow Color Tools – A color picker and eyedropper, and extracts the color scheme of any website that you like (it’s a lot of fun too)!

There are over 10,000 different ‘looks’ (AKA themes) for your website to choose from, and over 30,000 functions you can add to your website (AKA plugins). This website, EBookselfpublishingsecrets.com, is a WordPress website.

HostGator

HostGator is my hosting company of choice. It is excellent value for money but what sets it apart for me is the quality of support, especially the Live Chat feature where a human will stay in there with you until your problem is solved. I’ve pre-negotiated 25% off your entire first bill – just enter my coupon code KARONS25PERCENT.

Aweber

I’ve used the Aweber auto-responder service for over 10 years to automate the delivery of ‘freebies’ and my newsletter mailings. Aweber has the reputation of its emails having a greater probability for arriving in recipients’ inboxes. It’s not free but is only $1 for the first month so you can see if you like it.

OptimizePress 2.0 is the WordPress theme and plugin of choice for serious internet marketers and eBook self-publishers. Fiverr

Who doesn’t love Fiverr? Where else for around $5 or $10 can you get an eBook cover designed, an article written, a website banner or logo designed, your product tweeted to several thousand followers, or 3D HD underwater photos holding your custom message. Just the unique slant you want to set you apart in eBook publishing!

Fiverr is hit and miss but when it works, the results can be amazing value. And if it fails then you haven’t lost much.
